This is the new location and setup for the hydroponic garden. Now we have two full sets of towers, and at the end are the two tall tomato-dedicated towers. You can see the corner of the chicken coop to the right of the hydrogarden, to give you some sense of perspective and placement relative to one another. We harvested some lettuce and snow peas for dinner tonight. Yes, I did eat some of the snow peas before they made it into the house. They are so good!

WOW! That's impressive. I can't believe how high up you had to put the tomatoes! I can't wait to see them when they are full grown and producing fruit.
ReplyDeleteOk, I have a few questions. This is on the side of the yard next to Kim's house, right? What's the white lattice for? Is the crate in the far corner your compost heap? And those are your daylilies in front of that?
Yes, this is the side by Kim's house. The white lattice was put on by her ex husband back when the fence was covered with passion vine to help keep her little dogs from jumping into our yard. We just left it after we took the vine out. The crate is where the new compost pile will go. Right now we have two of them that size on the other side of the house, but the roots from the ficus trees have grown up into it, making it almost impossible to get all the compost out.
ReplyDeleteThe new bin will be right next to the hen house, so when we clean it out, it'll be very convenient to put the used litter in the bin.
Oh, and yes those are some daylilies in pots in front of the crate. We have about 30 in a raised bed next to the hydro garden (the water reservoir can is between the raised bed and the hydro garden.) When the coop is done, we'll build a larger, u-shaped bed to put the other 50 daylilies. That will go in front of the coop, where the little purple gazing ball is.
